Monkey see, monkey do [Tales of Akash 10 released]

I've implemented more stuff into Tales of Akash 10. The latest addition is the feature from the previous game which was intended for multiplayer really, and that was a dynamic encounter health.

How it works is that there is a piece of code that takes the number of accounts and multiplies it by an integer. That is the encounter total health. I must admit it's not 100% perfect as servers could have several old accounts, making the encounter impossible to defeat.

However, I solved this using the method familiar from "Diablo 2" and that is the players x command. Basically you could adjust the mob strength by typing it if you were the server host, making it even more difficult to play through. I remember using the players command when I hosted a server for a couple of friends.

Well, now the encounter script asks for input and saves that number into a database text file from where it is read by other modules. I didn't really have any other choice but to save it, as importing the module reserved the terminal upon launching the game's main module. It's sort of quick and dirty, like the whole database but it works.

Then I started digging into the game graphics. I tried making better ones with GIMP but they turned out looking sort of sketchy (although I liked the stock marble and stone patterns I used in the fortresses). But, the initial release is now out and about! It took me 3-4 weeks of coding, although I had the game framework pretty much forked from the previous game.

There are some known bugs and errors in the game but I couldn't resolve them. Basically it doesn't really matter, in fact it makes the game a bit easier. But I must admit the game getting stuck or crashing is frustrating. At least people get to keep breaks during their session, and the game now saves itself so you can continue playing.

This was purely a coincidence. There is a so called Null module that rewrites the player's database, and switching that to the character creation module made it so that the database stays untouched after quitting or exiting the game window.

I might add some stuff in the upcoming patches but unfortunately getting them to the ones who bought the game for free is somewhat tricky.
