RPG adventures in the Akashic Dungeon.. [Tales of Akash 7 out now]

I've been spending the holidays resting a bit.

So, after digging into Tkinter which I read about from a Python programming book, I decided to up my game-making. For those who don't know it's a Python module for making graphical user interfaces (GUIs) which is based on Tcl/Tk programming language (if I understood correctly).

The syntax was a bit confusing or overwhelming at first but I very quickly got my first "Hello World"-program running. From there it took off and soon I was importing ASCII text and stats etc into the GUI. I used the old console-based stat/health/turn/XP system from Tales of Akash 6 after a bit of modding.

The game is set following the footsteps of the previous game. You'll find encounters, explore the dungeon, and participate in dialogue which takes the plot forward.

Combat is based on roll modifiers and stats, like in Tales of Akash 6. There are some new puzzles for the player to solve, new items, a more intuitive inventory system and more. The save-game system is now automatic, with the option to load the auto-save from the main menu. I could only make it work so that there is only one auto-save point; in the future I'll look into making a load game menu (I tried but for some reason it didn't work, instead the function automatically loaded the save files).

One thing I noticed is that the Tkinter-based game is much more faster to compile to an exe and more lightweight than the console/terminal-based games.

So, here's a Dropbox link to the .rar. The game itself takes about 40Mb of space.

You can find the rest of the games in the Dropbox folder.

Happy holidays, and I hope enjoy playing!
